Claim FAQ's

What is a Deductible?

A Deductible is the amount of money that you are required to pay, for repairs to damage, under the insurance policy. You typically choose your deductible amount when you purchase your insurance coverage. Usually, the lower the deductible, the higher the insurance premium.

Do I have to use my Insurance Company's Adjuster?

Once you have filed a claim, your insurance company will typically schedule an adjuster to inspect and determine the amount of damage. If for any reason you do not agree with your insurance adjusters' assessment or the value of your loss, you have two choices. We recommend that homeowners request a second re-adjustment with a new adjuster from your insurance company. If you still don't agree, you may hire a public adjuster to perform a separate assessment to submit to your insurance company. The insurance company will review all assessments and negotiate a fair settlement.

How do I know if I really need to file a claim?

If you believe you have experienced damage, it is in your best interest to call your insurance company and a professional contractor who specializes in property restoration. We will review the situation, along with your insurance company and give you our professional opinion. We work on your behalf and specialize in negotiating with insurance companies to make sure you get a fair settlement. It is in your best interest to file a claim and let professionals determine whether you need repairs or not. Do not wait; call your agent as soon as possible after the loss.

How do I find someone Qualified to repair my damages?

It is in your best interest to personally find a company that is qualified and experienced with dealing with the parameters of a property insurance claim. You should hire a professional that will represent your best interests and help you get what you deserve. Many companies are not licensed in the city they are working in and are known for chasing storms from state to state. When they leave, they leave you having to rely on a third party for service and/or warranty issues.

How long will it take to settle my claim?

The length of time it takes to settle a claim varies depending on your insurance company and the type and size of the loss. We recommend that you maintain close contact with your insurance company and to check the status of your claim. Many insurance companies now offer online services to maintain the status of your claim.

Will my claim be covered?

Insurance claim coverage varies from policy to policy. However if you have property damage, you have experienced a financial loss. Your homeowners insurance will protect you against losses that are beyond your control and your insurance company will compensate you.

How can I prepare myself in the event a loss occurs?

We recommend that you maintain a good inventory list. It can be as simple as a list of your personal property and kept in a safe place. No one wants to experience a loss of any kind, but being prepared will ease your frustrations if you find yourself having to file a claim.

What is a Public Adjuster?

A public adjuster works for the property owner, while a private adjuster works for the insurance company. A public loss adjuster will personally inspect your property and assess the value of the loss. They will submit a separate claim to your insurance company for review. It is their responsibility to provide an accurate resolution for your loss and negotiate payment for the repairs or restoration.

What is a Restoration Contractor?

Insurance Restoration Companies help remediate and restore damage that occurs to your property. An expert restoration company will immediately respond to your emergency situation and help your through the entire claims process. Insurance restoration companies are the experts in repairing your property damage and fully understand the insurance claim process.

What are supplements?

Insurance companies may send you a supplement check that you may recieve for many reasons. Sometimes adjusters can miss certain damages to your property when initially assesing your loss. Some claims are very detailed and if you are not careful, you can be stuck down the road having to pay for these repairs yourself. We will go over the details of your claim from start to finish and will ensure you get everything you deserve. Other reasons you may recieve a supplement check include code upgrades that were missed or further damage to areas of your property that could not have been forseen until the restoration process began.
